Container ship MSC ILONA under tow, Arabian sea

Container ship MSC ILONA was spotted as adrift, probably disabled, on Sep 18 in Arabian sea off Oman coast, some 350 nm southeast of port of destination Salalah. According to AIS track, on Sep 24 MSC ILONA was taken on tow by offshore supply tug AQUILA (IMO 8714891), to be towed to Salalah. As of 0600 UTC Sep 26, MSC Ilona was some 480 nm almost due east from Salalah( MSC ILONA drifted more than 200 in northeast direction since Sep 17), moving towards Salalah at some 3 knots speed, ETA Oct 1. No information on character of trouble – it may be anything from mechanical failure to a fire.
