The port of Ipswich welcomes another large ship the Deltagracht, 156.93 metres in length and a breadth of 22.80 metres sails from Freeport Texas with a draft of 8 metres and another large consignment of rice.

The pilot boards the Deltagracht at the Sunk pilot station and makes her way into the Felixstowe harbour past ships more than twice her size.

As the Deltagracht is joined by the Svitzer Sky which follows closely astern to be made fast centre lead aft around Woolverstone. Further up the river the Gray Salvor heads out to be made fast on the centre lead forward before going under the Orwell Bridge.

Clearing the bridge with plenty of space the pilot starts to slow her up by getting the Svitzer Sky to go 10% astern.
Up at the other end of the port the pilot gets the tugs ready for the port swing, the Gray Salvor repositions onto the starboard shoulder while the Svitzer Sky moves to the port quarter ready for a push.

The Deltagracht does not have much room to manoeuvre while swinging. Safely swung around she comes ahead on the main engine to head down the harbour to the 500ft berth where the mooring gang is waiting for her to come alongside.

With the knowledge of the pilot and the skills of the crew on the tugs, the Deltagracht safely berths alongside the 500ft Berth.
