The MSC Mirja on her maiden voyage sails into Felixstowe from her last port of Algeciras with a draft of 12.1 metres. The pilot onboard the MSC Mirja requests the assistance of two Svitzer tugs for berthing, the Svitzer Deben made fast centre lead aft and the Svitzer Sky push indirect on starboard quarter then to move to the port shoulder to be made fast. As she approaches the Beach End (the 90° turn) into the harbour Svitzer Sky pushes full at a 45° angle on the starboard quarter to help the bow around the corner but the Mirja struggled to turn so the Svitzer Deben was instructed to go out on the portside for a full powered in-direct to help with the turn. The MSC Mirja was requested starboard side to berth 8.
