Update: Bomb squad called to the Port of Felixstowe

THE bomb squad have today been called to the Port of Felixstowe after workers discovered an armoured shell.

Suffolk police said they were contacted by the port’s police force at around 2.10pm.

The bomb squad are currently en route to the port and will be assessing the situation when they get there.

The shell, described as two inches in diameter, washed up on the beach earlier today.

The bomb squad were called to the incident and upon examining the item they determined that the shell was not live.
